Mental Health Awareness Among College Students

Mental Health Awareness Among College Students

The college students are those who have just got themselves out from a different world where they were pampered with report cards and for their good academic and co-curricular performances. It is a tinder age where a student witnesses a lot of changes. His life completely transforms who sees a new world away from school life. Excitement, anxiety, nervousness, and a similar feeling take over the body.

Students can feel a different change. They are always willing to shift to a completely contradictory era. Sometimes, they become so impatient that they can’t wait. They wish to start their journey with a restless attitude. It wipes away the freshness of their minds and from the time they start bothering their mental state of mind.
I made a gradual shift from school to college and got a place of my choice. Believe me, I was not scared at all. The biggest fear used to be of ragging but by the time strict policies and rules were made against ragging. The first day of college was fun. College staff was regularly keeping a tab on the seniors on how are they treating the freshers.
But, college is not just about the first day when you are welcomed and pampered. Your equation and temperament with other college students also matter for you to survive.
Here’s how to create mental health awareness among college students:
Fight and help fight loneliness: Not every person is the same. Nature and preferences vary from person to person. A few of them can be introvert and others might be extrovert. But there is one more category who prefer to act according to the situation. So, it is better not to make them feel inferior to you because they are not like you. Appreciate them. Nobody has the right to bother their fellow people in regards to their personal traits. If they are not like you then even you are not like them.
Fear of failure: After reaching a college-level a student has to decide what he/she wants to pursue as a career choice. Mostly, the courses are opted based on the type of career a student wants to pursue later in his career. For eg., a commerce student will either choose the courses like B.Com or B.Com (Programme) and start preparing for CA exams whereas a science student will directly prepare for the entrance exams of AIIMs (All India Institute of Medical Sciences), AIPMT (All India Pre-Medical Test), NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test), etc. The non-medical students will pursue B.Tech then M.Tech, etc. Arts students can have flexible career choices. Don’t leave seconds thoughts for yourself after zeroing on your choice and don’t keep a feeling of failure in your mind.

Confused choice: As discussed in the previous point, in case you are not sure about your decision then please don’t bother your mental health. It is always good to realize sooner rather than later. Even I had a commerce background in school and Business Studies was my favourite subject. Later, I dropped commerce and picked up arts in my college and I am busy framing my career as Creative.
Depression: One should know that you can’t see or feel depressed. It is a gradual process that engulfs us slowly. Future is the biggest tension so try to make it look like a dream and you are working on it happily while enjoying your journey towards accomplishment.
Feel anxious, excited, and do adventurous things. This is your age and you should be a source of energy but not degradation.
