Work-life Balance

The topic is not new to the people who are regularly banging their heads from work to their personal lives where they have no time for themselves. They are valued in terms of the productivity that they are able to deliver. In case, they are not productive it is very easy for the second or maybe the third party to easily replace them with another level of potential who are supposed to be better than previous.

Our fight with SWOT

We may not be so bothered but the others are very keen on analysing our SWOTs. In a business environment, you can not lead yourself without describing yourself with a proper SWOT. It will be easy for the recruiters to choose you once they are clear about you. 

What is SWOT- an analysis of our strengths and weaknesses or to know about what are the benefits can be derived from us i.e., opportunities and lastly the threats which are the problems that the company may face in case an employee is not satisfied with them.

Situation

This situation needs a fair recognition in this peace of story. I would like to narrate you a small story with a deep meaning. Once a person was actively looking for a job. He has a lot of potentials but what was coming in his way as a hindrance is lack of working experience. He is not among the one who has spent nearly six months to a year sitting in an office and doing its chores simultaneously collecting the experience. His first job was too good but he had to leave that job due to an unavoidable circumstance. He was not able to find a good job in spite of lot of struggles. Now, he couldn’t think of anything else other than jobs. He was not able to look after his family. There was no issue in his family but he wanted to become financially independent. This though was taking a toll on his mind. He tried a lot but everything was to no avail.

He is to continuously work in order to create a good portfolio. In the process, he could hardly participate in the family matters because what bothered him the most is money. He was ready to put on all efforts in his job but he was not getting the same. One day he received a call from a company. It is an artists booking platform. He was so happy that he confirmed that job instantly. The level of motivation was so high that he only depended on the offer letter that he received from that company. He started working without a proper contract. In spite of poking HR continuously, he didn’t get his contract. Trusting the organisation was the biggest mistake for him. He was continuously mentally harassed by the old employees. To his shock, the authority didn’t care as they were just getting their work done from him. After getting fed up completely by the job he decided to opt-out of the job peacefully. He waited for his salary but couldn’t get it. You know why? Because he didn’t sign the contract (though it was not presented to him) so he couldn’t claim the salary. It was a devastating turn in his life. To his surprise, the founder said that its none of his business. But the question is whose business is this then?

That’s why it is often said that a work-life balance is very important. Never get yourself drawn in that business so much that you start forgetting your personal life. Not everyone is like this, many are exceptionally good as well. If expecting our salary in return for our contribution is termed as being a freeloader then there is no point in continuing. So dear hard workers you should understand that a dog's tail cannot be straightened even after ten thousand years in the bamboo.

How to overcome? 

1. Prioritize yourself over anything as no one is going to ask about your well-being. 
2. Manage your time according to your needs and requirements.
3. Create a comfortable ambience for yourself because you know whether you are comfortable or not.
4. Take breaks when needed. 
5. Always welcome opinions and suggestions but say no to criticism as you too have got plenty to say about others in such case. 

Being dedicated and hardworking is not a problem but you should keep a quick eye around you. We don’t know about the bees around who are always ready to bite.
