There were many speculations attached with Ayurveda for years. It is just been
years around the discovery of how Ayurveda came into being. Ayurveda was always a part of
our daily lives but it was never discovered in the form of Ayurveda. The origin of Ayurveda is
now being made crystal clear because people can understand the concept of Ayurveda as well
its origin.
The Vedic era has introduced yoga to us. Atharva Veda is the best source of knowledge to
know about the origin of Ayurveda. The need for a healthy life is proper food, medicine,
exercise, and yoga. This lifestyle, also known as a 'Satvic' life developed the concept of
Ayurveda which promoted an Ayurvedic life. There are ancient manuscripts which clearly
reveals the authenticity of Ayurveda. The best part of Ayurveda is that it does not involve any
complexities creating its footprints as Satvic brand.

Ayurvedic manuscripts were earlier popular in the Southern Indian State of Kerala and south of
Tamil Nadu. These are the manuscripts which specifically targeted Ayurveda. These
manuscripts basically taught the availability of ayurvedic medicines in ancient time. The
languages used in those manuscripts were Prakrit, Pali, Tamil, Gujarati, Kannada, Telugu,

From Harappa and Mohenjodaro the manuscripts of medicines i.e., Krishnagola (Shilajatu) and
Harinashringa were in use continued till the Indus Valley Civilization. These manuscripts are
preserved by Sampurnanand Sanskrit Visvavidyalaya, Varanasi and Library of Tibetan Works
and Archives, Dharamsala.
Panchakarma Treatments in India
Panchakarma in India is followed as the best ayurvedic treatment in India. The 'Panch', 'Karmas'
(5 activities) that are performed here are as follows:
1. Sneha Vasti- It deals with the problems relating to atmospheric disorders like anxiety,
constipation, and insomnia. All the toxins from the human body are removed. The benefits attached
to it are as follows:
- Eliminates all the impurities related to the atmosphere from within the body.
- It flushes out toxins from the inner body.
- This massage lowers the spinal pains and the problems attached to it like headaches, backache, etc.
- This problem falls under the treatment from neurology.
2. Vamanam- The main aim of Vamanam is to extract all the dosha or impurities from the body.
- It leaves the body stress-free.
- Relaxes the chest by excretion of capha (cough).
- It is most efficient for the treatments of asthma and skin related diseases.
- It reduces the level of cholesterol in the body.
3. Virechna- It alleviates all the pitta dosha collected in the lower intestine from the body through
the anus.
- It releases the accumulated pitta dosha.
- It is good to deal with liver diseases, inflammations, jaundice, etc.
- Avoid poising in the body.
- It heals the diseases which can't be directly cured.
4. Kashaya- It is a herbal tea used to cure minor illnesses and fever. It is being used since
the ages of our forefathers and it is very effective.
- It aids in digesting.
- It helps in preventing the problems related to the respiratory system. It can be cold, cough, etc.
- Ginger especially helps in cough.
- Problems relating to gas can be avoided.
5. Nasyam- This therapy deals with issues of head and neck, i.e., the upper part of the body.
- It reduces the stress level of the brain.
- Skin complexion and controlling air quality can be improved from nasyam.
- It can be of great help in order to avoid mental disorders.
- Relaxation of eyes also falls in this category.
